Some highlights from the 15/16 annual report:
- The number of beneficiaries in the support-education and development classes during the year was 126.
- The number of children enrolled in the pre-primary school was 170, and the number in the day-care centre was 54.
- An annual gathering was held on 25 January, 2016 and Barbara Young, founder of Friends of Jagruti, was the chief guest. Barbara presented the best teacher award for 2015/16 to Manisha Bhagwat and Nasreen Bagwan.
- Health checkups , immunization of MMR, HB and typhoid are done periodically by qualified doctors. Many children who are found to be anemic are given iron supplements and their hemoglobin levels are closely monitored.
- Parent meetings are conducted regularly and health checkups are also arranged for parents. Lectures on nutritious foods are given by experts.
- Supplementary support, such as an entrepreneurship-development program for women, financial assistance and guidance, a counselling centre, are offered. A legal aid clinic has been set up by a past student, Rajashree Kare, who completed her LLM recently. She was the first in her community to attend university.
- 23,400 people were helped at the health care centre. Doctors are assisted by a social worker and a trained helper. Family planning, a diabetic clinic, eye care, and training home-care staff are some of the other activities and programs available.
- Girls coming from rural areas are given full support, which includes accommodation for pursuing higher education. 40 girls enjoy safety, security and a friendly atmosphere at Jagruti.
- Several women and men in the community have been given interest-free loans to improve their enterprises, homes and standards of living.
- Jagruti has received a number of awards for outstanding work in these social areas.
