
JAGRUTI's educational programs and services include four balwadis (nursery schools) that provide learning opportunities and snacks for pre-schoolers; a new day-care centre, which opened in September, 2013; educational support classes because the dropout rate in school is high, especially for girls, who are often married off at an early age. In addition to free support classes, there are library facilities and a quiet study room. Financial support for excellent students who want to pursue higher education is also available and this support includes hostel accommodation for young women.
To register for school in India, children must provide birth certificates and registration forms. When the parents can't read, JAGRUTI helps obtain and complete documents for primary school registration.
Vocational training is also offered. JAGRUTI's courses include tailoring, beautician, computers, pre-primary education and home nursing.
